Biography

Overview

I am an Associate Professor of Accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University. I completed my PhD at Bentley University. Prior to taking an academic role, I spent three years with KPMG as an auditor, obtaining my CPA in the state of Virginia during that time, followed by three years in corporate accounting at a private equity firm in NYC.

I teach audit at both the undergraduate and doctoral levels. My research interests include using behavioral research methods to examine issues associated with audit firm quality control, auditor-auditor interactions, and auditor professional development. My interest in professional development extends to the classroom where I have developed several teaching cases that help students learn using "real world" audit techniques.

My work is published in top academic journals including Accounting, Organizations, and Society, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Accounting Horizons, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Issues in Accounting Education. I currently serve on the editorial boards for Accounting Horizons, Behavioral Research in Accounting, and Issues in Accounting Education. I am the President-Elect of the Accounting, Behaviors, and Organization Section of the American Accounting Association. I am also the Faculty Director of the VCU Accounting Advisory Council and the Accounting Ph.D. Program Adviser.

I live in Henrico, VA with my husband, John, and our kids-Lucas (10), Vivian (7), Henry (5)-and our dog, Luna. When not working, I enjoy running and Barre classes, reading books, and traveling with my family.
