How do we help accounting professionals cope with the fatigue of busy season? My recent study published in Contemporary Accounting Research explores this issue. The results reveal that taking short breaks (microbreaks) and have strong supervisory support reduces end-of-day fatigue, particularly during high-stress periods. Together, these two mechanisms offer the most substantial relief for professionals working through busy seasons.
